AI4MED at NanoBalkan 2025: Advancing AI in Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy

The AI4MED Research Group proudly participated in the NanoBalkan 2025 Conference, one of the leading regional forums on nanoscience, nanomedicine, and advanced diagnostics. The event, held on October 1, 2025, brought together researchers from Albania, Spain, Italy, and beyond to explore cutting-edge innovations in nanotherapeutics and nanodiagnostics.

Representing the University of Medicine, Tirana and AI4MED, Niko Hyka will present the work “Integration of Deep Learning Algorithms with PPIR and AI4MED for Advanced Medical Image Analysis and Simulations in Radiotherapy”. His talk showcased how AI4MED’s research is pioneering the use of deep learning architectures to enhance radiological image segmentation, quantitative feature extraction, and radiotherapy simulations.

Building upon the PPIR (Program për Procesim Imazhesh në Radioterapi) platform, AI4MED integrates state-of-the-art deep learning algorithms to improve tumor detection, automate quantitative parameter analysis, and optimize radiotherapy planning. These contributions underline the group’s mission to accelerate translational AI applications in healthcare—bridging the gap between research, technology, and patient care.

AI4MED’s active role at NanoBalkan 2025 not only highlights Albania’s growing presence in the international research landscape but also strengthens collaborations with leading institutions across Europe. By contributing to the dialogue on nanotechnology, AI, and medicine, AI4MED reaffirms its commitment to innovation that directly impacts clinical practice and patient outcomes.
